In their previous league game, United had been on the end of a 5-0 thumping by Newcastle. Just a blip said Alex Ferguson. A week later, the blip got much worse. And it still wasn’t over then. United also lost the game against Fenerbahce in the Champions League and their next league fixture to Chelsea. They had previous at the Dell too — United had lost there 3-1 the season before and it was their grey kit that infamously got all the blame. There’s a bit about that at the start of this video.
