In this video of the 2011/12 season, we look back at the Carling Cup game played between Chelsea & Liverpool. The gate attendance for this game was a sell out 40511 crowd. The was ref was Phil Dowd. MATCH REPORT: Goals from Maxi Rodriguez and Martin Kelly gave Liverpool their second win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in ten days in the Carling Cup. A goalless first half had seen defences prevail, with Sebastian Coates particularly dominant in the heart of the Reds defence against former hero Fernando Torres. Liverpool should have had the lead after 20 minutes, when referee Phil Dowd penalised Alex for handling inside the box. Andy Carroll stepped up to take the penalty but shot straight at Ross Turnbull. Chelsea’s first effort did not arrive until the second half, when Florent Malouda’s downward header looped up on to the bar, but this only served to wake Liverpool up.
